ANDERSON — Nestle USA is asking the Anderson City Council for a tax break on equipment for its expanded plant that it says will lead to the hiring of nearly 100 people.
Nestle has requested a 10-year tax abatement on new equipment valued at $200 million. The break is worth about $9.3 million and is part of the incentive package the central Indiana city offered for Nestle’s expansion.
The company plans to expand its plant along Interstate 69 by about 200,000 square feet.
City Economic Development Director Linda Dawson says Nestle could have about 500 employees at the plant after the expansion.
