DAZZLING DYNASTY: Floyd Central dance team going for 11th national title

FLOYDS KNOBS — Floyd Central High School’s dance team will make its pilgrimage to Orlando, Fla. this weekend in hopes of securing its 11th consecutive national title at the Universal Dance Association’s National Dance Team Championship competition.

The Dazzlers came away with the title last year in pom and hip hop competitions. After months of preparation, they hope to repeat their victory.

According to the organization’s website, about 330 high school and all-star dance teams will compete and have performances broadcast Friday and Saturday on ESPN2.

The team was also interviewed for a feature in the April issue of Dance Spirit Magazine last week.

The 18-member team left for Orlando by bus Wednesday night.

Multiple attempts were made to contact their coach, Todd Sharp, but he did not call back by press time.
