Crews raised a steel, one million-gallon water tank to the top of a roughly 160-foot concrete pedestal on Coes Lane in New Albany on Tuesday. The tank was raised by a system of hydraulic jacks at a rate of approximately one foot per minute. Indiana American Water contracted with Louisville-based Caldwell Tanks to build the tower, which will replace the now-retired tank on Michigan Avenue in Jeffersonville. It's expected to be operational by late summer.
