LOUISVILLE — Prepare to “cheer” the sixth anniversary of the first local beer festival to take off at historic Bowman Field Airport.

Tailspin Ale Fest — Winter Warmer, co-founded by New Albany resident Tisha Gainey, will be held Saturday, Feb. 16. This year marks a special feature – it’s a 100 percent outdoor festival, making this a true winter warmer. But have no fear, there will be plenty of heat. And the surrounding outside area of the WWII-era hangar will be a Tailspin Tented Winter Wonderland, giving attendees a new and different look.

The event, sponsored by Cox’s and Evergreen Liquors, features more than 75 local and national American craft breweries offering more than 250 beers on tap, with a special “Kentucky Heritage” section featuring beers brewed in the Bluegrass State. “Mug” it up at Magnolia Photo Booth and “tap” into some tunes provided by live entertainment from 100% Poly. View vintage airplanes on display and photo opportunities with pin-up girls, and feast on some of Louisville’s best food trucks.

Tailspin Highlights:

• Cox’s Cigar Pavilion

• Expanded Kentucky Heritage Section featuring only beers brewed in the Bluegrass State

• Bourbon Barrel Beer Bar, plus a Cider & Sour Bar

• Dare to Care Raffle at Tailspin Ale Fest with items such as a $500 gift card to Cox’s and Evergreen Liquors and more. One hundred percent of the raffle proceeds go to Dare to Care Food Bank.

• Pin-up Girls ready for their close-up selfie shots with public. Printed photos onsite, too.

• Designated Drivers receive a free coffee compliments of Heine Brothers.

• The popular Drake’s Silent Disco is returning with an expanded footprint and two DJs.

A “Get on the Bus Gus” service will offer transportation to and from Bowman Field with a new dedicated Shuttle Entrance, to be accessed at New Albanian’s Bank Street Brewhouse in New Albany.
