Fleece bear makes separation more bearable

A resident of the Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany and her daughter found a way to connect physically despite the separation that the COVID-19 pandemic has created in care homes. Edna Carney’s daughter had a handmade bear created from her fleece jackets and dropped off the bear at Autumn Woods for her mom. Edna received the gift and smiled from ear to ear. She immediately hugged it and said, “Oh how I love and miss my daughter Midge.” She has been sleeping with the bear and said it has given her comfort during these tough times of being separated from her daughter.
