NEW ALBANY — Kelly Feiock is now a candidate for New Albany City Clerk.
Feiock filed Friday as a Republican. She will face two-term incumbent Democrat Vicki Glotzbach in the Nov. 5 municipal election.
No one ran for clerk in the May primary on the Republican ticket and Sunday is the deadline to place a candidate on the ballot.
This is Feiock's first attempt at political office. She said she has a public relations and marketing background. She has also been active in the last six years opposing the city's renovation plan for Mount Tabor Road, and helping her neighbors stay informed about the project. Feiock said she wants to see more transparency in city government.
"I grew up here and this city has changed quite a bit," she said. "Accountability is really important to me. I want residents to know what is going on at these meetings if they can't attend. I want to make sure to hold them [office holders] accountable."
Floyd County Republican Party Chairman Shawn Carruthers said he is pleased to have Feiock on the ticket.
"We couldn't be more excited about Kelly. She has a lot of talent and brings a lot of credibility to the ticket," he said.
