JEFFERSONVILLE — Police say a man arrested with a handgun and wearing body armor in the parking lot of a Jeffersonville business Wednesday did not appear to have been intending to cause harm.

Police responded just after 5:30 p.m. to reports of a suspicious person in the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center at the River Ridge Commerce Center. On arrival, they found Ryan Russell, 26, of New Salisbury, who was arrested for carrying a handgun without a permit.

Russell was not affiliated with Amazon and had accompanied a friend who was applying for a job, police said. Formal charges were not filed as of press time.
