NEW ALBANY — TheatreWorks of Southern Indiana’s new arts facility in downtown New Albany is welcoming audiences to its season opener, Neil Simon’s comedy “Rumors,” running through June 11, a TheatreWorks news release stated.
The shows plot is full of twists and turns to keep audiences in stitches throughout production, according to the release.
The play is under the direction of TheatreWorks artistic director, Chris Bundy. Bundy is a well-known director, founder of TheatreWorks of Southern Indiana and retired director of the award-winning theatre arts department at Floyd Central High School.
“We are so very excited to open this new arts center in downtown New Albany and feel it will be a great addition to the entertainment scene in the area,” Bundy stated in the news release. “We’ve lined up a dynamite cast for the opening show and are ready to welcome audiences and send them out laughing.”
Cast members for the show include newcomers to the local theatre scene, Michael Price who is in the process of moving to New Albany from Bloomington where he co-established The Cardinal Stage Company and Margot Morgen, who is a professor of political science at IUS and who has also been active in theatre in the Bloomington area. Other notables include husband and wife team Jason and Hannegan Roseberry. Hannegan is the director of theater at Community Montessori School and Jason serves as executive director of TheatreWorks. Amy Harpenau, director of Theatre Arts at New Albany High School, also takes the stage in “Rumors.”
