JEFFERSONVILLE — A 34-year-old man is facing felony charges after allegedly battering and stabbing a family member in Jeffersonville.

Police were called to the scene of the alleged attack in the 1000 block of French Street shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday. They found an injured 69-year-old male who had been involved in an altercation with suspect Jason Davis, according to a news release from the Jeffersonville Police Department.

The injured man was transported to a hospital while Davis was taken into custody for questioning, the release states.

After questioning the suspect, police arrested him on charges of domestic battery, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, all felony charges.

The incident unnerved at least one nearby resident.

Deborah Forehand, who has lived on the street for years, said the incident has rocked the neighborhood.

"We're homeowners. We're all family-oriented," she said. "We don't need this."

She said there have been times when police have been called for less-serious incidents, "but nothing like this," she said. "This little block is quiet."
