JEFFERSONVILLE — The family of a woman who died last week after being found unresponsive in her cell in Clark County jail is planning a celebration of life and candlelight vigil.

Amanda Lewis, 42, was found unresponsive by jail staff around 7:30 p.m. Friday. They administered CPR before transporting her to Clark Memorial Hospital where she died before 8:30 p.m. No cause of death has been released.

Lewis' daughter, Heaven Lewis, has invited friends, family and anyone in the public to join the family this Saturday in a celebration of life for her mother.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at 521 E. Maple St. where there will be food, photos and the chance to share memories of Lewis. Starting at around 8:45 p.m., the group will light candles and march to the Clark County Courthouse and jail at 501 E. Court Ave.
