JEFFERSONVILLE — A woman remains hospitalized and in stable condition after police say she was shot accidentally at her home Wednesday.
Jeffersonville police responded to the 300 block of Mechanic Street around 5:15 p.m. on a report of an accidental shooting. On arrival, they found the woman, who had been shot in the right shoulder with birdshot, a man and two children.
The man, questioned by police both at the scene and the police station, said he had unintentionally discharged the shotgun while handling it.
The case remains under investigation and, once complete, will be turned over to the prosecutor to determine if charges will be filed.
