Serve country, community through American Legion

Have you ever thought about joining the American Legion? Have you considered going back into uniform by being a member of the Color/Honor Guard? The Charlestown Post is now taking applications for Legion Membership and Color/Honor Guards.

Here are the qualifications

• A veteran with an honorable discharge (DD214).

• A son or daughter of an honorably discharged veteran (DD214).

• A current member of any branch of service or the son or daughter of a veteran.

• A minimum of 21 years old.

• Have available time during the week and some weekends.

Duties include Honor/Color Guard services at local funerals of veterans and memorial tributes for fallen comrades, marching in parades, Posting of Colors at local events, decorating grave sites along with a host of other events.

If you have some time and the desire to go back into uniform to be a part of something that will enhance not only yourself but the community and a Grateful Nation, make the call.

This position has no pay in dollars; we are paid with friendship, with gratitude from every family member at every funeral, parade and flag ceremony. If you are looking for a cause where you can make a difference, this could be for you. A full uniform is provided along with training.
