Clarksville won one match and lost one Saturday.
Bedford North Lawrence beat the Generals 4-1. Clarksville's lone victory came at No. 1 singles, where Elijah Dowell won 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.
"The match was really tight," Generals coach Stephen Welcher said. "Elijah Dowell played a great match and played well all day. Our doubles played tough also, we were short a varsity player and had to adjust our lineup. I thought JV player Caleb Cummings stepped up and competed very well."
Clarksville bounced back to beat Trinity Lutheran 4-1.
The Generals swept the singles matches and won one doubles match as well. Dowell won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Dakota Capps triumphed at No. 2 and Ethan Neal was victorious 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3. At No. 2 doubles, Caleb Cummings and Saul Tatum triumphed 6-1, 6-0.
"Elijah Dowell performed even better than the first match. Dakota Capps won a tough three-setter and started playing the aggressive [way] we want him to play," Welcher said. "Ethan Neal played a nice match and rebounded great. I thought our number doubles really played tough. I'm so proud of how Saul Tatum and Caleb Cummings performed stepping into the varsity lineup for the first time, they were aggressive and attacking the whole match."
