Although the 2011 IHSAA girls’ state track and field finals at Indiana University on Saturday will be remembered for the six state-meet records set at the event, it was a quiet day for area girls.
Jeffersonville’s Tierney Mull was the only point scorer of the day, earning a ninth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 129 feet, 1/2 inch.
Jeff’s Brooklyn Kinnaird placed 23rd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.34 seconds and 19th in the long jump at 16-9 3/4.
Floyd Central’s 3,200 relay team placed 25th in 10:06.97.
New Albany’s Phoebe Bauer was 23rd in the 3,200 in 12:10.39. Waverly Neer of Culver Academies set a new meet record with her 10:20.66 finish.
In the pole vault, Floyd Central’s Rachel Kavgazoff placed 14th and Molly Voyles of Silver Creek finished 18th.
