NEW ALBANY — Asbury pitcher Will McDonald held host IU Southeast to three hits as the Eagles beat the Grenadiers 7-1 in River States Conference action Friday night.
Asbury also pounded out 13 hits — all singles — and scored four runs in the second, one in the seventh and two in the ninth against a pair of IUS pitchers. Grenadiers starter Jack Wohlert suffered his first defeat of the season in yielding five earned runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out one in seven innings. Reliever Trevor Reynolds allowed a pair of runs.
The Grenadiers’ lone score came in the bottom of the ninth. Of their three hits, two went for extra bases — a double by Jordan Branz and a triple by Clay Woeste.
