NEW ALBANY — The IU Southeast baseball team swept a doubleheader from Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon.
The Grenadiers won the first seven-inning game 5-4 and the second 12-1.
In the opener IUS scored all the runs it would need with a three-run first inning and a two-run second. Brody Tanksley and Daunte Decello had a pair of RBIs for the Grenadiers while Clay Woeste scored two runs.
Jacob Morley picked up the win on the mound with 1 2/3 innings of relief of starter Cameron Harvey.
IWU freshman Ethan English, a 2018 Jeffersonville graduate, pitched the final three innings for the Wildcats. He walked one and struck out three while not allowing a hit.
In the second game, Tanksley went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Dalton Mitchell was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Grenadiers' 13-hit attack. Tyler Warmath added a pair of RBIs while Cody Maloon, Jordan Branz and Santrel Farmer scored two runs apiece.
Chas Adams threw six shutout innings to pick up the win on the mound. He yielded five hits while striking out seven.
The Grenadiers (9-5) open River States Conference play this weekend, when they host Rio Grande (Ohio) in a three-game series. The first game is 3 p.m. Friday.
