LOUISVILLE — Floyd Central ran past the 21-team field to win the Tiger Run at Louisville Champions Park on Saturday.

Sydney Liddle paced the Highlanders in second place. Floyd had eight runners in the top 38, including freshman Jaydon Cirincione in 10th place.

"Very proud of our girls today," Floyd Central coach Carl Hook said. "We ran good after a tough week of practice. As always, we’re only after a great effort and we definitely got that today from everyone. When we pickup a win in a quality meet like [the Tiger Run], it’s a nice bonus as well."

Lillian Pearce was 15th overall, Sydney Baxter was 18th, Emma Hupp finished 19th, Natalie Clare was 32nd, Carley Conway 34th and Kyleigh Leslie-Holt crossed the line 38th.

New Albany's Olivia Hawkins finished 26th and Providence's Natalie Boesing was 29th.

The Highlanders were fifth and rival New Albany was 12th in the boys' race. Justin McWilliams led Floyd in 25th place. New Albany's Alex Wallingford was the top finisher from the Hoosier State in 14th.

DRAGON GIRLS WIN AT SALEM

SALEM — Silver Creek's girls won the Salem Invitational on Saturday and the Dragon boys were second to Mid-Southern Conference-rival Austin.

All seven Dragon girls placed in the top 20. They were led by Grace Sherrow, who was second to champion Kaylyn Holman of Crothersville, and Isabelle Odle in fourth.

"The girls did a fantastic job in winning the meet today," Silver Creek coach Darrell Kingery said. "Most of these girls were running their first 5K ever in high school and to have all seven in the top 20 was beyond my expectations this early."

Jeffersonville was eighth and Borden, which was led by McKenna Ray in 31st, was 10th.

Preston Coots paced the Silver Creek boys in seventh. Ashton Still was two spots behind his teammate.

"This was our first 5K of the season on a tough course," Kingery said. "I was pleased with how we ran, especially in that the front pack were within 16 seconds of each other. We will get better as the season goes on, so second place was a great effort against a veteran team like Austin."

Gavin Just's 16th-place finish was best for fifth-place Borden. Jeff was ninth as a team.

Austin's Ethan Fugate was the boys' champion.
