The Course:

Chariot Run Golf Club, 8919 Chariot Run Drive SE, Laconia, IN 47135. Chariot Run is located about 15 minutes from Caesar’s Southern Indiana, just off of Indiana 11 near Elizabeth. South Central High School is adjacent.

The Signature Hole:

The closing hole, hole No. 18. The Par 5 hole plays 533 yards from the back tees, 458 yards from the whites and 384 from the reds.

Description: While some might believe a Signature Hole should be the most difficult one on the golf course, Chariot Run Head Pro Ryan McGinnis wants golfers to close out with a birdie on this picturesque Par 5.

“The 18th is a hole that gives you a good chance for a birdie,” McGinnis says. “It’s a way to finish with a smile and want to come back and play the course again.”

When stepping onto the tee at 18, it’s hard to not be awed by the view, one of the best on the course and in southern Indiana. No matter where you play from, you’ll have to avoid the water courtesy of a pond that menacingly sits in front of you and the creek that runs up to the right side of the hole. The longer hitter can get to the green in two. More casual weekend duffers, if laying up, only have to worry about a single bunker on the right hand side of the fairway. There’s a pond on the right side of the green and a bunker to the left, but a few accurate shots can lead to a birdie opportunity on what is a mostly flat green.

About Chariot Run:

Chariot Run is a 7,200 yard track that is the partner course to Casesar’s Entertainment, which operates the casino nearby. It’s tucked into the scenic backdrop of hilly Harrison County, and McGinnis says the course is in terrific shape heading into the dog days of summer. “The course is as good as it gets right now with all the rain we have had over the past few months,” he said. “Everything is lush and the greens are fast.”

Average daily rates are $59 Monday-Friday and $79 Saturday-Sunday. That includes everything – your green fee, cart, taxes and range balls. There is also a full pro shop, club and shoe rentals, and the Double Eagle Bar and Grill has full bar service and dining options if you do want to celebrate your birdie on 18.
