No. 10 hole at Valley View

No. 10 at Valley View Golf Club plays around 320 yards regardless of your handicap

THE COURSE:

Valley View Golf Club, 3748 Lawrence Banet Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119

THE SIGNATURE HOLE:

No. 10, a “risk/reward” par 4, according to pro Zach Johnson. It generally plays around 320 yards regardless of your handicap.

Description: The most important thing is to not get overconfident with your tee shot. “Most people will only hit a mid iron off the tee to lay up to the top of the hill, but that leaves you around 150 to 160 yards over a pond to a very difficult and narrow green,” Johnson said. “If you come up short, your ball could come back down the hill into the hazard, and if you go long you might end up out of bounds.”

While many people opt to lay up, the longer hitters take aim at the green with either a hybrid or a driver. You can easily go out of bounds if you hit it long, and there’s the water hazard below the green, as well as plenty of trees and bunkers to contend with. “A lot comes into play here,” Johnson said. “The hole doesn’t look intimidating on the card, but not many birdies are made on this short par 4.”
